                  Kindergarten Scope and Sequence

Art

-          To teach & reinforce through art what is learned in Social Studies.

-          Create unique artwork through drawing & hands-on activities with a variety of materials & color.

Drama

-    Develop memorization and performance skills at age appropriate levels with plays, poetry, and music.

Language Arts

-          Recognize, name, & write all upper & lower case letters of the alphabet.

-          Orally blend isolated sounds into one syllable words.

-          Learn word families (at, et, ot, etc.).

-          Begin to recognize some common words by sight.

-          Use letter sounding knowledge to write simple words.

-          Understand and follow oral directions.

-          Listen to and understand fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.

-       Distinguish fantasy from realistic text.

Math

-          Sort & classify objects.

-          Recognize & continue patterns.

-          Count by 1’s,2’s, 5’s, & 10’s.

-       Write numbers 1 through 30.

-          Interpret graphs.

-          Identify coins.

-          Add & subtract to ten with concrete objects.

-          Instruments of measurement.

Music

-          Learn a medley of songs.

Religion

-          Introduction to the Trinity, Creation, Ten Commandments, Baptism, Prayer, the miracles of Jesus, Heaven, & Holy Days.

-          Learn about the human virtues and how to put them to practice.

-          Basic concepts of science through hands-on activities.

-          Community workers.
