First Grade Scope and Sequence


Art

-        Learn & demonstrate the elements of art (line, shape, color, value, texture, form, space).

-         Develop drawing and observational skills.

Music & Drama

-         Fundamentals of music and choir.

-         Develop memorization and performance skills at age appropriate levels with plays, poetry, and music.

Language Arts

-         Read stories with class discussion & questions to test understanding.

-         Read fiction and non-fiction literature.

-         Grammar & language usage: punctuation,
parts of speech identification, sentence structure & early writing skills.

-         Guided Journal Writing

-         Handwriting skills (Bowmar-Noble Method).

-         New vocabulary weekly.

-         Auditory & visual recognition of consonants, short & long vowels, blends & digraphs

Religion
